We sometimes get hung up on the equipment one uses as a way to a better shot. If you have the eye even an Iphone can produce visually stimulating images although you might not be able to enlarge them, they will make a good print or addition to a portfolio. I have shot with my Iphone and Instagram, Hipstomatic the creative results I get are highly stylized. So that leads me to the other concept. Where do you get your inspiration?
I usually get up early in the morning sometimes before 5AM and go to locations that I found in my driving travel in my home state and capture what grabs me. Later I’m back in from of my MacPro and Photoshop. A lot of the shots get trashed and only the real keepers remain in post work.
I suggest the digital photographer meet with other photographers they know and share the shots, critique and complete the keepers. We photographers sometimes isolate from our peers. I for one gravitate to my monthly meetings at ASMP, visit other studios for coffee and talk shop. Amazing things happen both for business operation and creativity. Write on your blog, show images on the blog and your site. Once the creative juices flow you are on a high, keep going and push your self more.
I have been shooting for over 25 years and still find photography as interesting as I did when I started, you can too. Search for interesting sites, use your Ipad and install Flipboard its my one App I use all day and night as my RSS reader.
